No Plans for New Year’s Eve? Head to First Night Alexandria!

December 18, 2019 / editor

First Night Alexandria is one of the most popular New Year’s Eve events for families and music lovers and offers the community an opportunity to ring in 2020 in a safe, alcohol-free environment. The event, which starts in the afternoon on Dec. 31, features more than 100 live performances and children’s activities at locations throughout Alexandria. Award-winning musicians, country music performances, magicians, and tribute bands will perform at stores, churches, and museums, all inside away from the cold — and all within a walkable distance of each other. Notable performers include the Earth Wind and Fire Tribute Band and the Not So Modern Jazz Quartet.

There’s also a Kids Karnival at various locations, featuring carnival games, dancing lessons, bounce houses, and more. At midnight, the party will culminate with the only fireworks display in the D.C. metro area over the Potomac River.

Tickets for First Night Alexandria are $30 until Dec. 30 and children 12 and under are free.
