Spring Into a Better You with a Vision Board!

Spring Into a Better You with a Vision Board!

March 30, 2017 / editor

With 2017 well underway, how many of you are still following that New Years Resolution you gave yourself on January 1st? If you have already forgotten what your New Years Resolution was, don’t worry, you aren’t alone! Most people are likely to forget about their resolution by January 17th! However, with spring finally here, many people use this change in seasons to set new goals or resolutions for the mind, body and soul.

We want to help you tackle your goals and resolutions this spring and hopefully, they’ll carry on through the remainder of the year and beyond.  Instead of just thinking about eating healthier, working out more or making a career change, consider creating a vision board! Never heard of a vision board before? A vision board is used to lay out your goals for certain things in a visual way so that you can see your goals each and every day.

Here is how you can create your vision board in 5 easy steps:

  1. Think about what your original goals were for 2017.  What did you want to achieve? Where would you like to go in 2017? What do you wish to improve on this spring? What are the purpose and intentions for this vision board?
  2. Put your goals into categories to make it easier to manage.  Your categories could be career, health, relationship, finances.  Start by putting 2-3 goals in each category and then build from there as you move through the spring and 2017.
  3. Find your images and words.  If you are creating a non-digital vision board, then get your supplies out and start flipping through that magazine pile you have sitting on your coffee table. Think of it as a large scrapbook!
  4. If you are creating a digital vision board, you can make it using PicMonkey or Canva.  You can also use Pinterest to create a special board titled, Vision Board.  If one of your goals is to lose weight, pin new workout clothes to your board or motivational quotes.  Keep in mind, with Pinterest, you can keep your board secret or public.  Once you create your digital vision board, print it off to post somewhere each day or make it your desktop or cellphone wallpaper.
  5. Put your vision board where you can actual see it, hence the “vision” part of the project!  Being able to see your goals and visions will allow you to better keep yourself on track and reach your goals. So place your vision board in a place that you will see it every day.

As the year continues to moves ahead, it is ok for your vision board to change.  As you achieve your goals, remove them from your board.  As new goals form, add them to your vision board for that reminder each day.  It is also important to know that some goals may not be achieved right away, but making your vision board a part of your daily routine will give you the motivation to keep working hard and making the most of the remainder of 2017!
