Help Raise Money & Awareness For Local Charities

April 25, 2016 / editor

Are you having a case of the Mondays?  Are you already thinking about the weekend?  Well think no more as we have 2 events that will help to fill your weekend.  The best part, both events will allow you to help raise money and awareness for local charities right here in Alexandria!

Get your tickets for the 2016 Team Strike Out MS Crawfish Boil on Saturday, April 30th at Fort Hunt Park.  Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a disease that causes damage to the central nervous system. With more than 2.3 people affected by MS worldwide and no known cure for the disease, it is important that money is raised to ensure there is continued research and education to find a way to end MS. From 11a.m-5p.m, join others in our community to have fun while helping to raise money to finish MS.  Besides the all-you-can-eat (and drink), you’ll have the opportunity at raffle prizes throughout the day, as well as, activities for kids.  Go for a little while or stay the whole time, either way make sure you go hungry and in the end you’ll be leaving knowing you have helped out significantly.

On Sunday, May 1st, get your walking shoes on and head to Old Town Market Square to help raise money for animals in our community by participating in Alexandria’s Walk for Animals.  This event is being held to raise money for the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria.  Since, 1946, the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria has been a key resource in pet care in our community, as well as, a place that has helped find loving homes for thousands of animals.  This pet-friendly event will run from 9a.m-12p.m and will include a 1-mile walk, activities for kids and special goodies for all humans and pets too!

It is wonderful that here at The Parker we are able to be part of a community rich in charities and with people that want to make our area better for humans and animals alike.  Although it may only be Monday, knowing a weekend filled with opportunities to make Alexandria better will help make the week go by faster!
