If you’ve been here long enough, you’ve seen George Washington’s home throughout the seasons. But if you haven’t seen it at Christmas time, you’re missing out! Enjoy tours of the Mount Vernon Mansion, Christmas fireworks, caroling, and even see a real camel. See all upcoming events here.
In a Festive Bag
Alexandria’s Holiday Market is one of our favorite upcoming events! On select days in December, John Carlyle Street will transform into a European-like Christmas market sparkling with handmade ornaments, gingerbread, hot wine, hot cocoa, and plenty more. Yes, it’s possible to enjoy shopping for everyone on your list.
You’ll have the opportunity to spread joy even further by participating in the Holiday Sharing Toy Drive program. Don’t miss it!
On the Water
Yes, Christmas can even be found in the water, at the 16th Annual Alexandria Holiday Boat Parade. What makes twinkling Christmas lights even more beautiful? Reflections of twinkling Christmas lights on the water. See gorgeous ships sailing the Potomac, completely decked out for the holidays.
Oh, and we almost forgot to mention the Water Skiing Santa Claus. (Nope, not joking.)
In an Art Gallery
You may have been to the Torpedo Factory Art Center before for their holiday open house—but have you been to Take a Walk in the Woods? That’s right.
On Saturday, December 5, head to the TFAC to take a stroll through an enchanted forest while the Alexandria Choral Society and the Braddock Brass Quintet play holiday tunes. Oh, and of course, you can visit Santa on the 3rd floor until 7pm.
All Around Town
In Your Dancing Shoes
Don’t dance? Of course you do. Square dancing is one of the simplest—and most enjoyable—dances out there. Head to the “Toys for Tots” 41st Annual Benefit Square Dance, and dance the night away for a good cause.
Deck your home with all the holly and tinsel you can—then it’s time to set up the tree. Relax on your couch, hang out with your family and friends, and have some eggnog. Yes, the holidays can be found in a cozy night spent at home, too.
