October 22, 2015 / editor

Being an adult can be difficult at times. Paying bills, working overtime, walking the dog–you shoulder a lot more responsibility than an average 5-year-old.

Fortunately, we still get to celebrate Halloween.

We’re a little past Trick-or-Treating, but the adult Halloween celebrations and events in Alexandria can be just as fun! (And won’t involve awkward run-ins with your friends’ parents). Pick out your perfect costume, choose your favorite events below, and celebrate the the holiday like a real Alexandria adult with these 5 fun Halloween events in Alexandria.

1. Nightmare on King Street

There are so many reasons to love this sports bar. Delicious crab cakes (and hush puppies to die for), quick service, and TRIVIA! Now add this awesome Halloween event to the list. At 10pm on Halloween night, prepare to enjoy fantastic tunes, astounding costumes, mummy wrap contests, and of course–a chance to win cash prizes. It’s always hard to wrangle your friends and come up with a concrete plan for the 31st. Nightmare on King Street is a good pick for a group.

2. Raven’s Night at the Legendary Birchmere Music Hall

Sometimes you want to celebrate Halloween for more than a night. Or you’re just working overtime on a holiday (hopefully that’s not you). If that’s you, head to the Birchmere on October 24, 2015 at 7:30pm for a “Dark Fusion Bellydance Event” with great electronic effects and visuals that are sure to leave your jaw on the floor. Raven’s Night is well worth the $25 fee.

Wander through artistic Halloween decor, enjoy finger foods and beverages, chow down on candy, and get your monster mash on with great music. Oh, and of course, this is an art gallery–so you’ll be able to purchase art from the Skeletons: Under the Surface exhibit and take it home with you that very night.

At just $5, this party is a scary good deal. Side note: if you’d like to share your own spooky treats, they’re welcome here.

Per the official website, this is how the evening will progress:

“The evening will begin with live piano music and a cocktail hour, followed by a 3-course dinner, with a choice of red or white wine and optional cocktails.”
